A new year, and another lockdown to accompany long, cold winter days. What is required is colour and light to raise the spirits. There is plenty of colour here, particularly in the paintings of Pennie Elfick and Anna Gardiner.  Look out also for the works of William Crozier, Penny Robinson and Christian Brechneff.  There is also a sparkling painting Noon Le Touquet by Alistair Grant, an artist thoroughly steeped in the Normandy coastline where his mother was born. They all bring life to a room. I should know as I currently have the pleasure of several of them hanging on my own walls!

The theme of this season’s Focus Feature is the glorious pastel shorelines of John Hilliard whose images, reminiscent of JMW Turner, are effused with light inspired particularly by the North Somerset coast close to where he lived and walked his dog. Pastel is such a sensual medium and he used it to the full with expressive, painterly effect

I have been adding recently further items into the Artworks Gallery, expanding the selection of art on offer. This includes paintings by Janette Kerr PPRWA and Riduan Tomkins alongside prints by Sir Eduardo Paolozzi RA and Robin Frood. A work in progress, and more about which in the future, is the Old Master print gallery – a small group of etchings is currently viewable here. Coming soon to Focus Feature will be the etchings of Sebastien LeClerc (1637-1714).

New to the site is book section which includes art books and catalogues, among other special interest items. Do explore! Prices include UK postage; quotes for overseas postage to be provided.
